What is a digital badge?
A digital badge is a validated, standardized graphical representation of knowledge and skills earned in various learning environments. Your digital badge has a unique URL that can be shared electronically via social media, in your email signature, on your firm site, in proposals, and more.
What is the benefit of having a digital badge?
A digital badge helps you gain recognition for earning your certificate by allowing you to easily display and share your achievement. Prospective clients and employers will be able to quickly verify your competencies and skills. The digital badge also provides greater credibility and visually declares your commitment to professional development. According to a recent LinkedIn study, profiles with certifications and badges receive six times the number of profile views.
What happens once I complete the certificate program?
Within ten business days, you will receive an email from AICPA@credly.com with instructions and a link to accept your badge.
How do I accept my badge?
The email instructions from AICPA@credly.com make it easy to log in to the AICPA Credly site to claim the digital badge you have earned. You can use your email address, Facebook or LinkedIn information to create your free account.

Do I have to accept the badge?
You do not have to claim the digital badge, however digital badges are becoming the standard for recognizing and publicizing professional development.
How long do I have to accept the badge?
There is no time limit to claim or accept the badge; however, please refer to the question “Will my certificate badge ever expire” below.
How do I share my badge?
From the “Earned” tab on the AICPA Credly site, you can elect to share badges anywhere on the web—a personal blog, a social network like LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter or Mozilla Open Badges, company website or an online resume. Look for the share and embed icon for the various options. You can also give anyone a direct link to your public profile page on the AICPA Credly site which will demonstrate that your badge has been verified and allow them to see all of the badges you hold through Credly. Many people include the linked certificate name on their resume, LinkedIn page or in the signature of their emails. You can link multiple e-mail addresses to the AICPA Credly site, so if your digital badge is delivered to your work e-mail, but your social media accounts are linked to a personal e-mail, it is a seamless experience to share your accomplishment.

Will my certificate badge ever expire?
Badges are automatically set to expire on an annual basis. They are currently set to expire Dec. 31, 2017. If there have been no significant updates related to information covered in the not-for-profit certificate, your badge will be renewed for another year. If significant changes to the information covered in the not-for-profit certificate program do occur, you will be notified about additional education that must be completed to maintain the certificate. If you pass the additional testing, you will remain a certificate holder and the digital badge will be updated to reflect competency in the new areas. If you do not complete the additional education, your certificate will be expired electronically.
What happens when my certificate badge expires?
Your inactive digital badge will still be listed on your Credly account with the expiration date prominently displayed, so that if you would like to renew your certificate you will have one year to do so. If a digital badge has been expired for a full year, the badge will be removed from your profile by the AICPA and will disappear from your account.
How will someone know my digital badge is authentic?
Your badge is linked to your profile on the AICPA Credly site which includes verified information. Every certificate and profile has a unique URL that can be embedded in your social profile or on your web site.

How does Credly protect my information?
If I have other badges that aren’t from the AICPA, is there a way to consolidate them into one place?
Yes, digital badges issued and received on Credly.com are fully compliant with the Mozilla Open Badges standard. All Credly account holders can send their badges to the Mozilla Open Badge Backpack and import other open badges earned elsewhere into their Credly profile.
Can someone copy or steal my badge?
No, your digital badge is awarded to the name and email address you used to complete your Certificate exam. If someone were to copy the badge, it would be unverified and invalid. If you encounter any individual who appears to be misusing an AICPA digital badge image or URL, please contact us at DigitalBadge@aicpa.org.
Will I still get a printed certificate?
Yes, paper certificates are still printed on a monthly basis. You will receive your certificate in the mail 6-8 weeks after completing the program.
